NextShip reports that Ocean Network Express has signed a $1.22 billion deal with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for six LNG dual-fuel container vessels. The move supports ONE’s push toward lower-emission shipping as environmental rules tighten worldwide.

Each vessel will carry 15,900 TEU and is scheduled for delivery between late 2028 and 2029. Industry estimates place the cost at about $203.5 million per ship.

The order is part of ONE’s broader fleet modernization strategy focused on LNG and other alternative fuels. The company continues expanding its low-emission portfolio alongside methanol-fueled newbuilds under construction at Jiangnan Shipyard and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. ONE was formed from the container divisions of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, NYK Line, and K Line. It now operates around 280 vessels with more than 2 million TEU capacity, ranking sixth globally according to Alphaliner.
