A new milestone for global auto logistics: a 10,800 CEU car carrier has joined the fleet of HMM, with The Maritime Telegraph reporting the delivery as part of the industry’s rapid scale-up. The vessel was built by Guangzhou Shipyard International and signals a clear move toward bigger, more efficient carriers.

The MV Glovis Leader, designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute, is currently the largest of its kind. At around 230 meters long, it offers 14 decks built to handle everything from EVs to heavy trucks. The ship will run under charter for Hyundai Glovis.

It comes with dual-fuel engines (LNG-ready), plus shore power and energy-saving systems to cut emissions in port and at sea.

This delivery fits Hyundai Glovis’ push to expand capacity fast and capture growing export flows from Asia. At the same time, it highlights a wider trend: car carriers are getting bigger, and yards like Guangzhou Shipyard are doubling down on high-volume production to keep up with demand.
