MSC Group Welcomes LNG-Powered Cruise Ship Explora III
MSC Group has taken delivery of MV Explora III, the third ship built for its luxury cruise brand Explora Journeys, The Maritime Telegraph reports. The vessel is the first ship with LNG propulsion in the company's six-ship series being built by Fincantieri.
The handover took place on 23 July at Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, Italy. Compared with the first two ships, Explora III is larger, with an overall length of about 268 metres and 461 luxury suites.
The vessel features LNG propulsion and is ready to use bio-LNG and synthetic LNG in the future. It also has shore power connection, RINA class, and Polar Code C certification.
After delivery, MV Explora III will sail in the Mediterranean before its maiden voyage from Barcelona in August. The ship will then operate cruises in Northern Europe, Iceland, Greenland, North America, the Caribbean, and Alaska in 2027.
