A tragic crew boat accident off the coast of Mozambique has left seven people missing, according to The Maritime Telegraph. The small service vessel overturned in the early hours of Thursday while assisting the Scorpio-managed tanker Sea Quest near the outer anchorage of Beira.

The ill-fated boat was ferrying personnel to the MR2 oil and chemical tanker built in 2012, previously named STI Ruby. There were 21 people aboard at the time of the incident. Rescuers managed to pull 14 survivors from the water shortly after the capsizing, but seven individuals (including five crew members joining the vessel) remain missing.

Ships in the area quickly joined the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in an extensive search and rescue operation. Three survivors are currently receiving medical attention on board the Sea Quest before being taken ashore. In a statement, Scorpio Marine Management confirmed its close cooperation with maritime authorities and the families of the missing. The company said rescue operations are ongoing and that a full investigation will follow once the situation stabilizes.
