More than 200 passengers were evacuated after the river cruise ship A‑Rosa Sena struck the Amsterdamsebrug on the outskirts of Amsterdam late Wednesday, The Maritime Telegraph reported, citing local media. The helmsman suffered minor injuries, while passengers remained unharmed.

The 135-meter vessel was heading toward the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal when its raised wheelhouse hit the underside of the bridge. Despite damage to the superstructure, the ship continued to a nearby docking point, where emergency teams boarded.

Several hours later, a power outage left the vessel without lighting, prompting the nighttime evacuation of passengers from their cabins and transfer to shore. Authorities temporarily closed the bridge for inspection and later reopened it. The damaged vessel could not continue its voyage and was towed back to Amsterdam.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Preliminary indications suggest the wheelhouse had not been lowered before passing under the bridge.
