Seven seafarers jumped overboard from MV Seahorse after the cargo ship developed a dangerous list off Lebanon. The vessel was carrying timber from Turkey when water flooded one of its holds. Rescue teams pulled the men from the sea, while nine crew members, including the captain, stayed on board. One of the rescued seafarers reportedly suffered injuries. NextShip reports.

The cause remains unclear. Authorities suspect a technical failure, while reports also mention shifting timber and possible grounding near Sidon. Rescuers found up to four metres of water in cargo hold No. 5 and pumped it down to around half a metre.

After the situation improved, the Panama-flagged ship reached Beirut on October 26. MV Seahorse was built in 1997 and is about 100 metres long.
