Supporting the Next Generation of Ukrainian Seafarers

Odesa National Maritime Academy recently welcomed representatives of Alpha Navigation, including Julia Makarova and Victoria Chebatarova, for a meeting with the Academy’s leadership and members of the maritime industry.

The discussion focused on the future of maritime education in Ukraine, cadet sea practice, and the importance of giving young seafarers real opportunities to begin their careers at sea.

During the meeting, Acting Rector Vadym Zakharchenko emphasized that the Academy remains the only higher education institution in Ukraine fully equipped for the complete training of maritime officers.

For Alpha Navigation, supporting cadets is not just part of the business it is part of the company’s philosophy and long-term commitment to the maritime industry. Through cooperation with leading international shipowners and ship managers, Alpha Navigation helps young officers gain their first onboard experience and take the first important steps in their professional careers.

The Academy also shared its projected 2026 graduation figures, including 233 navigation officers, 118 marine engineers, and 46 electro-technical officers future professionals who will soon join the global maritime workforce.
